Gulls and other birds, such as pigeons, are a common problem on rooftops,
especially around coastal position such as St Ives. The
noise and mess caused by nesting birds are at the least a
nuisance, at worst a health hazard. Your gutters may need
clearing once or twice a year, your roof will gradually
become covered in guano, and they can quickly make a nice
new roof look like the bottom of a parrot cage!
We can install a range of deterrents that will prevent these birds from nesting or roosting on your property. We can do this as part of a roofing project, or as a standalone job on an existing sound roof.
The usual method is to string stainless steel rope between
any obtrusions to deter the birds from landing. The
best time to do this is early in the year before they start
nesting and breeding, because once they get their feet under
the table (do seagulls have feet?) they are harder to deter.
